The Ulster Farmers’ Union welcomed MLAs, MPs, Councillors and political leaders onto the stand at the Balmoral Show. Topics of discussion focused on current issues facing farmers and the rural community in Northern Ireland, including inheritance tax, the need for wildlife intervention to deal with TB and Nutrient Action Programme proposals. Discussions also took place on the importance of the NI agri-industry and how agriculture is one of the main contributors to the NI economy, NI’s role in contributing to food security, future support budget post 2025, and the need to address issues around planning and ammonia.
