UFU encourages members to report Farming with Nature Transition Scheme issues
The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is asking members experiencing difficulties with the Farming with Nature Transition Scheme application process to contact the Union so that issues can be formally raised with DAERA.
As applications for Year 2 of the scheme continue, the UFU is gathering feedback from members to identify any practical or technical issues that may be preventing farmers from applying or limiting the options available to them.
UFU President John McLenaghan said, “The Farming with Nature Transition Scheme offers farmers the opportunity to undertake a range of environmental actions while receiving financial support. As with any developing scheme, however, it is important that practical issues identified by farmers are captured and addressed.
“We are keen to hear from any member who has encountered difficulties with their application. Whether it’s an issue with the online system, eligibility, timings or the practical delivery of actions, we want to build a clear evidence base so these concerns can be formally raised with DAERA.”
The UFU said it has already worked with DAERA and other stakeholders to improve aspects of the scheme and will continue to press for changes where improvements are needed.
Mr McLenaghan added, “Constructive feedback from members has already helped shape future improvements to the scheme. We know there are practical challenges around some actions this year, and by gathering evidence now we can work to ensure these issues are considered as the scheme develops.”
Members experiencing issues are encouraged to contact their technical officer, providing as much detail as possible about the issues encountered.
The UFU will formally raise the issues with DAERA for response.
