Salary range: £37,070 to £43,613
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: Northern Ireland
The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Technical Officer to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference for farmers by providing expert technical support and policy advice to UFU members and support our county committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical advice, support, and knowledge to UFU members, staff, and committees.
- Collaborate with the UFU Policy team and technical colleagues to share best practices and deliver high-quality service.
- Offer policy and technical support to individual and groups of members as needed.
- Maintain accurate records using UFU’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Provide training, briefings, and technical information to UFU group offices.
- Ensure all activities comply with UFU policies and promote the benefits of UFU at every opportunity.
- Coordinate effectively with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for members.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrable experience in a relevant field (5+ years), and/or a relevant third-level qualification.
- Strong connection to farming and countryside issues.
- Demonstrable negotiation skills and analytical ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills; able to build rapport with farmers.
- Experience using computers and common software packages.
- Holds a clean driving licence and access to a car with flexible working hours.
