Technical Officer

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Salary range: £37,070 to £43,613

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: Northern Ireland

The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Technical Officer to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference for farmers by providing expert technical support and policy advice to UFU members and support our county committees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical advice, support, and knowledge to UFU members, staff, and committees.​
  • Collaborate with the UFU Policy team and technical colleagues to share best practices and deliver high-quality service.​
  • Offer policy and technical support to individual and groups of members as needed.​
  • Maintain accurate records using UFU’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.​
  • Provide training, briefings, and technical information to UFU group offices.​
  • Ensure all activities comply with UFU policies and promote the benefits of UFU at every opportunity.​
  • Coordinate effectively with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for members.​

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant field (5+ years), and/or a relevant third-level qualification.
  • Strong connection to farming and countryside issues.​
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills and analytical ability.​
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.​
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills; able to build rapport with farmers.​
  • Experience using computers and common software packages.​
  • Holds a clean driving licence and access to a car with flexible working hours.​
