The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) Next Generation Forum group met the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) Minister Poots during the week virtually, to discuss a wide range of issues, including TB, ammonia, future policy, land tenure, support for horticulture and Women in Agriculture amongst many more issues.
James McCluggage secretariat for the Next Generation Forum said, “One of the reasons the Next Generation Forum was created was for our younger farming members to put forward the next generations views. We would like to thank the Minister for giving up his time from his busy schedule to meet with the forum. We at the UFU hope that both the Minister and the forum members got a lot from the meeting.”
Minister Poots said, "I was delighted to meet with the UFU Next Generation Forum and I am encouraged to see the enthusiasm of the young people in the group, without doubt they will make excellent leaders in the future. It was also an excellent opportunity for wide ranging discussion on the key issues our agri-food industry currently faces.”
