The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) says the announcement by the Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots to extend the deadline for the Farm Business Improvement Scheme – Capital (FBIS-C), tier two, tranche two applications, will be well received by farmers and growers.
UFU president Victor Chestnutt said, “The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) Minster has made the right decision by extending the FBIS tier two application window to 4pm on 29 April. Due to the scale of the projects for this tier of the scheme, farmers will need this additional time to complete all aspects of the application.
“The UFU previously requested an extension to the application on the basis of current uncertainty and the difficulty of receiving quotes for submission. It’s very encouraging that the DAERA Minister recognised the issues on the ground and the uncertainty that many farmers are currently experiencing due to the prices fluctuating due to current world events.
“I would remind members that only those farm businesses which submitted an ‘expression of interest’ will be eligible to submit a full application for tier two tranche two, by the revised application closing date, 29 April 2022, 4pm.”
