UFU Welcomes £5million broadband investment for rural areas

The Ulster Farmers’ Union has welcomed Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill’s announcement to invest £5 million from Axis 3 of the Rural Development Programme into rural broadband.  This investment will specifically target the rural areas that currently have no fixed wire infrastructure to access broadband.

Ulster Farmers Union President Harry Sinclair said; “The Ministers announcement is welcomed given that many rural households continue to be significantly disadvantaged with a very poor or non-existent broadband service.  The UFU has always argued that rural areas need more reliable and better quality broadband coverage and with so many Government and commercial services moving towards online delivery it is very important that every household, regardless of their locality, has access high-quality broadband.”
