UFU comment on agreement reached between NI Water and Trade Unions

The Ulster Farmers’ Union is pleased that an agreement between the management and staff at NI Water has been reached which will ensure that emergency cover is in place to deal with faults during the period covering Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Commenting on the development, Ulster Farmers Union President, Ian Marshall said, “We have been watching with some concern the dispute at NI Water which could have meant that there was no emergency cover over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. While most other folks are enjoying the festive break, farmers still need to look after their livestock and the additional worry of the possibility of a disruption of water supplies without cover in place to deal with it, is something they could well do without.

“We are hopeful that there won’t be any real problems experienced over the holiday period so that both farmers and the staff at NI Water can enjoy the festive break” he concluded.
