National Ploughing Championships

Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) representatives attended the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co. Laois on Tuesday 20 September. Meetings took place throughout the visit with discussions focusing on increased energy and production costs, common agriculture supports, Irish grass-fed protected geographical indication (PGI), Northern Ireland Protocol, environmental and sustainability issues across the island.

UFU representatives met Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) president Tim Cullinan and IFA Director of European Affairs Liam McHale.
