Mind Your Head Week

Running from 12 – 16 February, the annual Mind Your Head Campaign run by the Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies), is now in its seventh year and aims to:

  • Help break down the stigma attached to poor mental health in the farming sector.
  • Recognise the current pressures on farmers and how it impacts their mental health and ability to farm safely.

The UK’s farming industry has faced many challenges over the past few years, but the emerging mental health challenge may prove the most devastating. According to research carried out by Yellow Wellies, 95% of UK young farmers say mental health is one of the biggest hidden problems faced by farmers today. This percentage has risen from 84% in 2019.

The UFU is supporting this campaign, urging farmers to make time for their wellbeing. Always remember, you are your farm’s biggest asset, and you are irreplaceable to your family and friends.
