LIVELAB

Founded in 2006, Livelab is an independent contract laboratory working with grain, animal feeds, foods, biogas and environmental samples. We are GAFTA lab No 238, one of 3 in the UK and FOSFA full member analysts.  We are also analysts to the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme for PAS110 work.  We are a small family business with strong connections in England Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

We are the largest contract grain laboratory in the UK, which isn’t saying much but we test around 25,000 samples of combinable crops every season for UK grain merchants bidding to buy the crops, this represents about 1/3 of the UK Crop.  We are a specialist malt laboratory too, and test a lot of malted barley to EBC Analytica standards for the malting industry.  We also test a lot of oilseeds for speciality foods supplements and ingredients. In addition to this we test wheat flour dough rheology for millers across Europe as bulk loads and new varieties are evaluated for performance in bakeries.

We also offer routine QC of animal feeds and raw materials for European feed manufacturers where we test the moisture, protein, oil, fibre and ash content of the finished feeds.  We also measure mineral contents such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium etc.

For farmers, we test soils, animal feeds, forages, dirty water and manures / slurries.

We are one of only a few specialist laboratories offering analysis in the area of anaerobic digestion and we handle the monitoring of around 150 UK  and Irish AD Plants and run a successful user participation group in this industry.  We also test CO2, a by-product of AD for use in the drinks industry which brings us back full circle to the EBC Malting methods that we use for malt, many of which transfer to the analysis of CO2 for the drinks industry.

Finally, we are members of the London Sugar Exchange and are analysts to the sugar industry.  A lot of sugar in your tea will have passed through our lab before hitting the market.
