Farm Business Improvement Scheme (FBIS) Tier 1 Capital
Countryside Services Limited are the DAERA appointed agent for delivery of Tier 1 of the FBIS. Tier 1 is designed to support farm sustainability and provides grant to purchase equipment and machinery from a pre-defined list of eligible items. Tier 1 of FBIS-C aims to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of Northern Ireland’s farm businesses by providing grants for capital investments across four key themes:
- Environment, Weather Resistance and Climate Change
- Animal and Plant Health,
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Production and Resource Efficiency
Countryside Services Ltd have successfully delivered the first three tranches of the FBIS which resulted in the distribution of over £27 million in financial support to over 5,400 farm businesses across Northern Ireland. It is for projects costing £5,000 to £30,000 (eligible costs), based on reference pricing. The grant rate is up to 40% of eligible costs. The total maximum grant available to a successful applicant of Tier 1 only is £12,000 over Tranche 3 and any subsequent tranches.

Countryside Services Ltd in conjunction with the Ulster Farmers’ Union, offer an in-house training service available to all of their members. Delivered at a number of locations throughout Northern Ireland, we strive to provide not only those mandatory courses like Safe use of Pesticides, Boom Spraying and Hand-held Applicator, but we also provide a wide range of alternative courses.
