Wednesday marked the final day of Love Lamb Week 2022. The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) supported the UK-wide campaign which ran from 1 – 7 September through its social media channels.
The UFU provided an insight into how lamb production benefits the environment as sheep can graze areas that are unsuitable to grow crops and are not accessible to other livestock, helping us to maintain our carbon sinks by consuming and converting grass. The UFU also promoted the numerous health benefits of eating Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured lamb, provided an insight into the workings of the sector and joined forces with Ulster Wool to showcase what happens when wool gets dropped off at their grading depot in Muckamore.
The UFU with the support of the Livestock and Meat Commission and local farmers, greeted members of the public at the Boulevard, Banbridge where they held a cookery demonstrations and sampling experience. Preparing a mix of recipes on the day, the cooking demonstrators highlighted the versatility of lamb and those in the area got the opportunity to experience the great taste of Northern Irish lamb first-hand while our farmers gave them an insight into lamb production.
The UFU would like to thank everyone who supported Love Lamb Week by sharing social media content and attending the in-store sampling event.
