Letters of offer on the way for Farm Modernisation Programme

The Ulster Farmers’ Union has welcomed the Agriculture Ministers announcement that letters of offer to applicants in the third tranche of the Farm Modernisation Programme, will begin to issue next week.  £7 million will be made available via the Rural Development funded programme.

UFU President Harry Sinclair said; “The Farm Modernisation Programme has proven to be a very successful way to allocate Rural Development Funds.  There has been a great demand in the farming community for this type of scheme, which makes available small scale capital grants to assist the modernisation of farm businesses.  Not only is the funding helping farm businesses directly, but it is also generating almost £14 million worth of much needed economic activity, in rural areas right across Northern Ireland.  I am pleased to hear that letters of offer are now being issued to successful applicants in tranche three of the Programme and I would urge those farmers to return their acceptance forms as soon as possible, thus allowing the funding to be released as efficiently as possible”.
