Farm Water Project launches three evening workshops- attendance payment available

The Farm Water Project is inviting active farmers to take part in a series of practical evening workshops which have been set up to review and trial a new training course. The course is being developed to help farmers identify, prevent and fix point source pollution on farms.

The sessions will focus on considering everyday, fixable issues that can affect water quality, including yard drainage, soiled water management, slurry and silage effluent risks, clean/dirty water separation, and simple infrastructure or management changes that can deliver real improvements on the ground.

To support participation, farmers who attend the workshops can receive £60. Please note: participants must register in advance and may attend only one location, and places are limited.

Training dates, locations and times (7pm–9pm)

  • Wednesday 29 January – Eglinton Community Hall. 40 Main Street, Eglinton, Londonderry, BT47 3AD.
  • Tuesday 4 February –  Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Road, Omagh, BT79 7DH
  • Wednesday 12 February – Clotworthy House, Randalstown Road, Antrim, BT41 4LH

Who should attend?

These workshops are aimed at active farmers with a DAERA Business ID and acceptance will be prioritised date of receipt. Farmers attending will help review and trial a new training course focusing on:

  • Spotting point source risks around yards, buildings and handling areas
  • Low-cost, effective measures to reduce losses to water
  • Improving compliance and protecting the farm’s reputation
  • Supporting healthier rivers and loughs for everyone

How to apply

Farmers who wish to attend must register in advance. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and applicants should select one of the three venues only.
