Carbon audits must not become conditional for future farm support

The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) has reiterated its clear opposition to mandatory individual carbon auditing becoming a condition for future farm support payments.

UFU President John McLenaghan said, “Our members have been very clear, they do not support compulsory carbon auditing being either imposed on farm businesses or becoming a condition of support.

“Farmers are already operating under significant pressures and regulations, and there is concern around the purpose, cost and future use of information.”
