Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) milk price index (MPI): UFU MPI 34.21ppl (was 33.67ppl) – Despite GDT in New Zealand remaining unchanged this week, dairy commodity prices continue to rise in Europe. DDB butter up €200/tonne to €5,600 and skim milk powder €20 to €2,590/tonne, which equates to just over 34ppl. Cheese has gained yet more momentum this week, not least because the curd price is rising, so too is gouda, at over €4,100/tonne. Curd is at £3,400 to £3,450 which would value mild cheddar c.£3,450/tonne.
