The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) and Gallaher Trust scholarship programme is delighted to receive the ‘educating for success’ award at the ‘Making a Difference’ awards event which was held in the Galgorm Resort earlier this month.
UFU membership director Derek Lough commented, “The Gallaher Trust’s scholarship programme was delighted to receive the ‘educating for success’ award in recognition of the programmes support and guidance, providing the next generation of farmers with the tools they need to create a more vibrant, viable and sustainable farming industry in Northern Ireland.
“In March 2023, the UFU and Gallaher Trust partnered up to support Ballymena’s rural economy through the launch of a scholarship programme, to promote and enhance individuals who plan to stay in primary production. The Gallaher Trust was pleased to support Eoghan Birt and Megan Law, recipients of the new scholarship programme with their studies in the Foundation Degree in Agriculture at CAFRE Greenmount.
“The scholarship programme will continue for a further two years, benefiting a total of six students, in three cohorts. Applications for this year’s scholarship will open in November with the closing date of March 2024. I would encourage anyone interested in the programme, to get in touch with a member of our team to explore the vast opportunities available.”
