The Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is pleased to announce that due to the generosity of its members, over £1.6k was raised at the recent RUAS Balmoral show for Marie Curie, the chosen charity of UFU president David Brown.
Commenting, Mr Brown said, “I would like to thank all our members and visitors to the UFU stand throughout Balmoral show for their kind donations to Marie Curie, enabling us to raise £1619.19 for the charity. It is greatly appreciated, especially when we are well aware of the ongoing cost of living crisis and the financial pressure farm families have been enduring due to rising input costs on farm. The monies raised reflects the goodwill and togetherness of our farming community.
“Marie Curie is a charity that is very close to my heart. It provides essential end of life care, support and compassion for patients and their families. Unfortunately, too many of us have experienced that incredibly difficult situation within the family or through a close friend, and the monies raised will assist Marie Curie in continuing to deliver their vital services to those in need across Northern Ireland.”
Conor O’Kane, senior partnership manager at Marie Curie added, “Marie Curie thanks the UFU and the wider farming community for their ongoing support. It is only because of such generosity that Marie Curie is able to provide end of life nursing care across Northern Ireland and in and out-patient services at our Belfast Hospice.”
