The Ulster Farmers’ Union technical team remains a crucial support for farmers across Northern Ireland, delivering meaningful cost savings and protecting members’ rights across a variety of difficult circumstances.
In a recent case, a UFU technical officer represented a member at a panel appeal for a large Environmental Farming Scheme (EFS) breach and penalty. After explaining the farmer’s position, it could not be denied that the ethos of the scheme was upheld. The penalty was removed and the farmer reimbursed £3,500.
In another EFS matter, a UFU technical officer represented a member at a panel hearing. The issue centred on the placement of a fence that was not in the correct position.
Despite this, the UFU successfully argued that the core principles and ethos of the scheme had been upheld in full. The panel accepted the UFU case, resulting in a fair result for the member involved.
