Water Catchment Partnership attend Fermanagh County Show

Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) and Water Catchment Partnership (WCP) representatives attended Fermanagh County Show on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 August. Pictured on the stand is Steven McDowell and Patricia Erwin WCP representatives, with David Brown UFU president promoting best practices protocols when spraying with farmers and land managers.

The WCP encourage using pesticides that pose least risk to human health and the environment. Integrated pest management (IPM) has many benefits including:

  • Maintaining biodiversity, decreasing pollution and lowering the build-up of pesticide resistance.
  • Can play a significant role in making farming more environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.
  • Using IPM will help to demonstrate adherence to the Code of Practice for using Plant Protection Products.
