The Ulster Farmers’ Union legislation policy committee have updated the ‘Agriculture and the Public Roads’ booklet.  The booklet contains advice on topics such as: licensing and taxation; weight and speed restrictions; use of trailers; and driving advice.

UFU deputy president Victor Chestnutt said; “The UFU’s legislation policy committee has been working hard over the past few months on the latest version of our booklet. We want to ensure that members have an up-to-date and handy reference guide which helps to distil down the vast amount of legislation involved with agri-vehicles, their implements and loads.”

The guide, now in its fourth edition, has proved to be a vital resource for agricultural vehicle owners and other relevant bodies. “As with previous editions, it has been developed by farmers for farmers and we would encourage all farmers ensure they pick up a copy of it. We have overhauled the format of the booklet in an attempt to make it easier to follow and more systematic and I hope that readers find it to be so,” said Mr Chestnutt.

The Guide is supported by CAFRE, LANTRA, PSNI, and the Health & Safety Executive NI and is available from UFU Headquarters and Group Offices. The Guide is free to Union members and £10 to non-members.
