UFU urges members to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines
Friday, 30 October, 2020
In support of the NHS and all our key workers, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is urging everyone within the farming community to #StayatHome if they can. When this is not possible and visits to farms are necessary, all social distancing guidance must be followed to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
Farm visits
The UFU urges all farm visitors to adhere to the protocols outlined below. Farmers/farm families should also uphold the two-metre social distancing rule at all times. This is vital during inspections when farm labourers are on site, during vet visits, or when milk and other products are being collected/distributed
- Wash hands on farm arrival and departure (if there are facilities to do so)
- Abide by social distancing advice – stay two metres apart from other individuals
- Wear gloves when collecting milk or delivering feed
- Disinfect the interior tractor/machine cab and door handles daily if used by multiple people
- Do not carry passengers
- Practise social distancing, and maintain a minimum of two metres from others at all times
- No hand contact with others such as shaking of hands
- If in doubt use the telephone to check instructions
- Wear disposable overalls and change these daily
If necessary you must self-isolate immediately for the following reasons:
- You have any symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
- You've tested positive for coronavirus – this means you have coronavirus
- You live with someone who has symptoms or tested positive
- Someone in your support bubble has symptoms or tested positive
- You're told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace or the NHS COVID-19 app
