UFU Manifesto

In the run up to the Northern Ireland (NI) election, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) has been meeting various NI Political Parties including Alliance, Ulster Unionist Party, Social Democratic and Labour Party, Democratic Unionist Party, Sinn Féin, Traditional Unionist Voice and Independent. The UFU took this opportunity to present thee UFU manifesto, outlining key strategic actions needing addressed and solutions implemented in the next NI assembly.

This has been an extremely positive experience, with politicians clearly listening to our concerns and adopting many of our proposals into their own party manifestos. During our discussions areas of improvement across government were raised with a change in direction needed as to how government departments work and intertwine accosts government.

Food procurement was raised and how supporting local produce could not only help achieve climate change. This is a crucial election for the agricultural sector. As an organisation we pledge to work with all political parties across the spectrum and continue to build relationships across the urban- rural divide.
