UFU livestock worrying campaign

Friday, 23 July, 2021

Having begun on Thursday 22 July, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) is running an online livestock worrying campaign to urge dog owners to be responsible for their pets at all times. This includes when visiting the countryside and ensuring their dog(s) is safely enclosed when at home, at all times.

A couple of short videos have been produced to coincide with this campaign featuring UFU deputy president David Brown and several members whose flock endured horrific livestock attacks. They highlight the stress caused to the sheep, some of which did not survive the attack as well as the worry and financial hit farmers are left to manage as a result.

The campaign will run for five weeks in total and each post will be published on Thursday evening at 7pm.

Warning: Some of the social media posts will be graphic and users may find the images hard to view, however, it is important that the reality of livestock worrying is highlighted to prevent it from happening again.
