UFU launch members Facebook group

The Ulster Farmers’ Union is expanding the online services it provides by creating a member-only Facebook community group where members can keep up to date on the latest UFU activities.
UFU deputy president, Victor Chestnutt said, “Our membership is spread right across Northern Ireland and it varies between individuals as to what media formats they use to keep informed. We work across many different platforms – including print and digital, to ensure members know about the work we are doing on their behalf.”
Over the coming weeks, the UFU will be introducing the new UFU Facebook group and encouraging members to join.
"The UFU Facebook group will have more member focused content, including exclusive digital content. This will include a daily news round-up, information about membership services, policy information, notifications about events and a monthly president’s message. It’s an exciting time for the UFU as we expand our information services to members,” said Mr Chestnutt.
The UFU has an 11,000 plus strong following on its public facing Facebook page, which it plans to keep growing with more targeted content.
Mr Chestnutt said, “We will still continue to post on our Facebook page, however, the messaging will be more about promoting the industry, such as the high-quality food we produce, our contribution to the economy and how we care for the environment. With all the misinformation about agriculture in the public domain it is crucial we continue to boast about our world-class industry.”
Joining the group is easy. Members can search for the ‘Ulster Farmers’ Union members community’ on Facebook and request to join by answering three simple membership related questions.
