UFU Watch
This week the UFU hosted a meeting for Northern Ireland’s potato and vegetable industries with DARD senior officials to discuss concerns over the availability of conacre land in 2015. Growers are finding it incredibly difficult to secure land for 2015 so the meeting was an opportunity to put these concerns to DARD. The UFU will continue to discuss this matter in an effort to obtain a practical that suits both the grower and landowner. The Union is also in the process of arranging a meeting with the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) to discuss how this serious issue is being handled in the Republic of Ireland.
