UFU gathers support for #Farm24

Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) members are supporting Farmers Guardian 24 Hours in Farming taking place on 4 – 5 August. The annual online event, sponsored by one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains Morrisons, will see members of the farming community using the power of social media to show the public a day in the life of a farmer.

UFU president David Brown will be participating in the initiative. Commenting he said, “We look forward to Farm24 each year because it’s a great opportunity for the farming community to come together online, harnessing the power of social media to show the very best of our Northern Ireland (NI) agriculture industry. So much happens behind the farm gate that consumers don’t always get to see, but this online event enables us to demonstrate our sustainable food production that has positioned us as world leaders in food safety, animal welfare and environmental standards.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we saw a heightened awareness among the public regarding the value of our food and the benefits of supporting local production, and we’re always eager to get involved in initiatives that will help strengthen the relationship between farmers and consumers. Farm24 will provide an honest, passionate portrayal of life on farm. With a collective effort from farmers across the UK as well as in NI, it will reiterate the farm to fork message, raising more awareness of where food comes from and the all-important role that farm families have in society, producing food to feed the nation.”
