Northern Ireland Potato Festival Success

UFU Watch

With access to such a prestigious location by kind invitation from the National Trust, the Innisfree Farm at the Giant Causeway was the perfect location to profile the Northern Ireland Potato Industry Festival.

UFU potato policy committee chairman Adrian Jamison who helped co-ordinate the three day event said; “I am very pleased to be in a position to report that this event was supported by many enthusiastic representatives from right across the Northern Ireland potato industry, and others including Moyle District Council.   On behalf of the UFU potato policy committee I would like to thank the effort and dedication from our organising Chairman Mr Maurice McHenry author of ‘John Clarke: A Potato Wizard’ book, who was our catalyst, propagating an industry vision and for trying something new and driving us to deliver this prestigious event.”

Adrian continued: “We have reached the time of year when farmers are busy harvesting, and rarely if ever would leave the farm on a bright dry day to attend an event, but on reflection by actually investing my time into this event I got to meet, in person, customers and chefs who use our potatoes every day.  This experience has boosted my confidence in the Northern Ireland potato sector and reinforces my belief that good quality potatoes will always be in demand. This event allowed us all to showcase our produce, ultimately giving our visitors the public an opportunity to taste and enjoy local quality potatoes.”
