Discussions between growers and Moy Park encouraging

Following reports that good progress is being made between Moy Park and their Ballymena and Dungannon growers, the Ulster Farmers’ Union is encouraged that talks are ongoing but recognises that there is still work to be done.

UFU Deputy President Ian Marshall said; “Many of Northern Ireland’s poultry farmers have been under an immense amount of pressure in recent months and hopefully the progress that has been made will help to alleviate some of that stress. It is encouraging that Moy Park has sat down with their growers. They seem to be taking on board growers concerns and appear to be committed to finding a sustainable solution to those concerns.

“I am encouraged that discussions are continuing as profitability is still an issue for many growers and there is still work to be done. The Union will continue to keep up to date of the situation and my hope is that these discussions will lead to a supply chain that is profitable for all parties involved and a sustainable poultry industry overall.”
