Countdown to 2014 deadline for Single Farm Payment entitlements transfer

PLEASE NOTE: DARD has extended the transfer deadline to 2 May 2014. Click here for more information.

Those thinking of transferring Single Farm Payment (SFP) entitlements for 2014 are reminded that the deadline for doing so is fast approaching. The closing date for the receipt of applications to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) is Wednesday 2 April 2014. DARD has stressed that applications received after 2 April 2014 will not be accepted and the transfer will not take place.

UFU President Harry Sinclair said; “Understandably farmers want to know how the reformed CAP will impact on their businesses and this is difficult when a number of key issues have yet to be decided. Some farmers and landowners will be thinking about transferring entitlements for 2014 and one of the things we know for certain at the moment is that the deadline for this is 2nd April 2014. I would encourage those wishing to submit a transfer request do so well in advance of the deadline to help ensure that if there are any queries they can be resolved before 2nd April.”

Applicants need to be registered and approved by DARD as a Category 1 Farm Business before they can transfer or receive SFP entitlements. Those not already registered should contact their local DARD office for advice.
