At the forefront of the establishment of AHWNI – promoting animal health and welfare in NI

Updated 22/04/15

The Ulster Farmers’ Union was one of the driving forces in the establishment of Animal Health and Welfare NI (AHWNI) and we continue to play an active role in the initiative. The aim of AHWNI is to improve herd health in NI and covers cattle diseases and conditions which are endemic to NI but are not currently subject to regulation or coordinated programmes of control. Currently AHWNI are working on disease programmes for Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) and Johne’s disease.
