DAERA Direct offices have changed how they operate, CAFRE have suspended all courses and there are changes to various DAERA services.

The delivery of all Knowledge Advisory Service programmes including industry training, conferences, BDGs and seminars have been suspended. However, CAFRE advisers are available to support the agri-food supply chain with any technical queries they may have and can be contacted through the local DAERA Direct offices.  Alternative virtual meetings are being considered.

DAERA Direct Offices

All public facing direct services offered by DAERA Direct Offices have now stopped. All customers must now conduct their business through DAERA Online services, which can be accessed from the DAERA Website home page or, if appropriate, via the Cattle Registration Telephony line (0300 200 7855).

Documents can still be delivered to a DAREA Direct office and left in a designated post box at the entrance to the building. To ensure protection of the food supply chain, current certification arrangements will continue to apply until further notice.

Digital Assistance with applications to the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) or the Environmental Farming Scheme (EFS) can be accessed through the SAF Advisory Service on 0300 200 7848.

DAERA direct offices are working to get as many staff working remotely as possible. DAERA has asked farmers to be patient as they work through this. Farmers are advised to email their local office if possible and a member of staff will come back to them.

All other appointments and general queries can be made directly with the local DAERA Direct office on 0300 200 7840.

AFBI Services

Seed testing at AFBI Crossnacreevy

Please be advised that seed certification and seed testing will be continuing at Crossnacreevy. Whilst non-essential work at the Plant Testing Station is currently stood down until the 15th April, essential work will continue.

If you have a seed sample that needs testing for germination or purity please take the sample to one of the gates at Crossnacreevy and ring the number on the sign on the gate to let us know that you have left a sample. We will then arrange a staff member to come to lift the sample.

The processing of samples may take longer than usual due to a reduced staff availability and the need to ensure social distancing when conducting the testing. These arrangements will be reviewed on a regular basis. Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time. For further information please contact lisa.black@afbini.gov.uk.

DAERA – PCN testing and high risk seed import sampling Update

DAERA will recommence PCN (eel worm) and high risk seed imports sampling. This service is absolutely essential to allow farmers to take land and protect our plant health status.
