CAP reform post 2014

Updated 29/05/2015

The implementation process for the newly reformed CAP has proved to be very complex and difficult with many truly active farmers are falling foul of a highly imperfect system. We pushed DARD for clarity and satisfactory resolutions to be found to important issues such as greening, regional reserve, and land availability. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts DARD continued to insist on overcomplicating the greening requirements and no solution to the land availability issue was forthcoming.

With the deadline for Single Applications now past, the UFU's focus is now on ensuring that DARD have an efficient and effective processing system in place. The UFU;s main objective is to see payments to farmers made as soon as the EU payment window opens in December 2015.

The UFU's May video blog features CEO Wesley Aston talking on this issue.
